Early Life and Career

Gary Shaw was born in Birmingham, England, on February 9, 1961. He began his football career with local club Aston Villa at the age of 16. Shaw quickly rose through the ranks, making his first-team debut in 1979. He quickly established himself as a key player for Villa, scoring 12 goals in his first season.

Aston Villa Success

Shaw was a key member of the Aston Villa team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1982. He scored the winning goal in the final against Bayern Munich, securing Villa's first European trophy. Shaw also played a key role in Villa's victory in the FA Cup in 1982.

International Career

Shaw made his international debut for England in 1980. He went on to make 12 appearances for his country, scoring 3 goals. Shaw was a member of the England squad that reached the semifinals of the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

Later Career

Shaw left Aston Villa in 1987 to join Manchester United. He spent two seasons with United before moving to Crystal Palace in 1989. Shaw retired from playing in 1995.
