7-Goal Defeat For Former Pirates Coach In Saudi

The Backstory

Former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer was on the receiving end of a heavy 7-0 defeat in his first game in charge of Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

Zinnbauer was appointed as Al Hilal coach in June, but his debut was delayed due to his commitments with the German national team, whom he was assisting.

The 52-year-old German finally took charge of his new team for the first time on Saturday, but it was a day to forget for him and his players.

The Match

Al Hilal were totally outplayed by their opponents, Al Nassr, who took the lead in the 10th minute through a penalty.

Al Nassr then scored two more goals before half-time, and they added four more after the break to complete the rout.

Zinnbauer was left to rue his team's lack of concentration and their failure to take their chances.

Zinnbauer's Reaction

"It was a very disappointing result," said Zinnbauer. "We didn't play well, and we made too many mistakes.

"We need to learn from this experience and move on. We have a big match against Al Ahli next week, and we need to be much better."

Conclusion

Zinnbauer's start to life at Al Hilal has been a difficult one, but he will be hoping to turn things around when they face Al Ahli next week.
